Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah

Hi everyone, I am back again with my first miniature of 2014.

My inspiration for this week is Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah. Have you eaten or heard of this Tau Siah Piah before? Tau Sar Piah is a pastry that filled with either sweet or salted bean paste. It has a buttery and flaky crust. It is best to be eaten while it is hot. Last year April, Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah was featured in American Magazine Travel+Leisure as the best dessert around the world. Here’s the link, http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/best-desserts-around-the-world/11. Give it a try if you are in Singapore, it is located at 639 Balestier Road #01-64.

I realised that the bean paste filling colour that I have mixed is too red >.<’’ Below are the pictures of my miniature Loong Fatt Tau Sar Piah.

My Facebook Page

Before I start, I would like to wish you a Happy New Year and hope 2014 will be a better year for everyone.

I have not been blogging since last year, Jan 2013. Sorry for the long wait, 2013 has been a difficult year for me, so I am hoping that this year will fill with fruitful days. My new year resolution is to sell my miniature at Etsy, I will update more when the time is right. Another new move I have made is that I finally created a facebook page which I wanted since I started miniature. Currently, I only uploaded some past works I have done. New Year

After a month of hiatus, I am back making miniature again. My apologies and also feel guilty for not posting or working on any miniature during this festive season. Chinese New Year is round the corner too, so I will be busy with the preparation for this festive. Hopefully, I can be more active after February.

In this New Year, I have created a new branding identity, template and MonPuchiKissa blog web banner.

As for miniature, these are what I have done. After a long break, I realised that my skill for making miniature became rusty TT.TT

4 January 2013
Cherry Pie
The base of the cherry pie was a recycled bottle cap. I think the sauce should be in a darker red.

7-8 January 2013
Tomato Tart
On the 7th of January, I done my first attempt of the tomato tart but I added too much translucent clay to the tomato seeds and pine nuts. The seeds were hardly seen after baked. I did not take any photo of it. On the next day, I tried to reduce the portion of the translucent clay and they finally turned out well.

9-10 January 2013
Cranberry Cake
I was amazed when I saw a photograph of real cranberry cake in internet. I told myself I would be doing this next for miniature. The cranberries for the top were dust with fake sugar and chalk pastel.

11 January 2013
Raspberry Bundt Cake
I am still very weak at using liquid clay for icing. The portion for the liquid clay and white clay is not right. They turned out too translucent and watery after baked. I intend to do it again next week if I have time.

Sorry for such a long post, I should post them separately.
